It's not embarrassing at all when your nephew screams out to you (infront of 30 adults) "I got hit in the NUTS!"

by teresa

Chris and I took Kai to his baseball game last night.
Katy told us it began at 6:00, but he need to be there at 5:30.
We got there at 5:30 and we were alone.
hmmm
Turns out it didn't start until 6:30.
We got out, set up our chairs (did I mention it was freezing outside) and waited.
And waited and waited. Something ended up being wrong with the scheduling and there was really no game after all.
We started to pack it up and the coach decided to have an hour long practice instead.
Oh my. That was the most boring two hours I have spent in a long time.
This team is beyond awful. Picking nose, slapping each other, rolling around on the ground...all while the plays are going on. arrrrrg. If it was a game it would have been bearable....but watching a kid get pitched to 40 times in a row and him never making contact is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

words to live by

Words and images produce the way you think.
The way you think will produce the way you feel.
The way you feel will produce the decisions you make.
The decisions you make will produce the actions you take.
The actions you take will produce your habits.
Your habits will produce your character.
Your character will bring you to your destination.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

by teresa

Soccer tournament this weekend and the last one in two weeks. I hope the temps. don't go beyond 75. Last weekends 90's was killing me out there. Once spring soccer is over, it will be nice to have no games again until the fall temps. roll in.

I want to go on vacation this year. Not far, just up the road a bit to the outer banks area. Us and the kids (and maybe one of their friends) at the beach...relaxing. Sounds good, doesn't it?

The dog is having serious digestion malfunctions. He is farting 24/7. My entire house smells like cabbage. Although I love cabbage...when you get into bed and your pillow smells like it....not cool. Is it cruel to put a dog to sleep because your shirts smell like dog poots?

We opened the pool this weekend. I know it's little early, but the kids were begging and it was so hot and I am all for anything that gets the kids out of the house. Once the word got out, the phone starting ringing..."can we come swim?" Sunday (a day I had planed to nap, nap and more nap) ended being a day filled with tons of friends and family, swimming, basketball and ring around the rosie. It was awesome!

I am reading Twilight. I gave into the peer pressure. I'll give you my review when I'm done.

We got a new couch and love seat...I love them. They are red. Isn't that cool? You wouldn't expect Teresa Green to have a red couch...would ya? Our last couch was broken, so when you sat down....you sunk to the floor and couldn't get up without assistance. That was especially not good for me, seeing as my short legs leave my feet dangling two feet from the floor on any piece of furniture.

We have birds that made a nest in our garage and the momma laid eggs. We left the garage door open one day....and they snuck right in there. It is high up on a shelf and we didn't even know. That is until we got attacked trying to grab a ball or find a broom or fill up my watering can. Now, softy Chris won't close the dang door. He doesn't want the momma and daddy to be separated at night (the daddy flies off during the day, leaving the mom home alone...typical). I will take pictures once I find some eye protection. They seriously freak out when you go near the nest.

actual questions and comments heard in the Green house this week

by teresa

He took mom's uterus.

Thank God for taste buds.

You might want to do something about the poop that's squishing out the back of your pants.

What is that smell? Ewwww the dog is farting pepperoni.

He was good all weekend, I think I will buy him shoes.

How do you expect me to live with no soda in the house?

Cats are stupid.

I want it so cool in here that icicles are hanging from the windows.

I can't believe he plopped his bloody foot up on my new couch.

How do you know it was me that came downstairs last night?
You left an empty cereal bowl on your dresser.

Who overflowed the toilet and then left it for me to clean up?

That kid is a different level of crazy.

I'm about to go off in here.
Take a pill!
I already took three!

Do you like my new nightgown?
It's too long.

Let's just sneak out honey....they will never know we are gone.

Last game of the spring season

by teresa
Ben's last regular spring season game was today.
They won 6 to 1, which puts them in first place for their division with 6 wins and 1 tie.
Next weekend will be the tournament.

moved out the old furniture

by teresa

What's more gross...
finding little mouse poops behind the old couch?
finding old boogers smeared down one side of the old couch?

I say boogers.

My kids are pigs.

I am not allowing them or the dog anywhere near my new furniture.

jiggly is not good unless you're eating jello

by teresa

I am stuffy.
It is hard to sleep when you can't breathe.
I am tired.
Stupid allergies.

I am skipping the volunteer appreciation breakfast at Nick's school this morning. I'm just not in the mood for stale muffins and hugs.

I think I'll go buy a sweatsuit...or some other workout appropriate attire. I know most people just throw on some yoga pants and a t-shirt. But, until you actually get fit, those flimsy Lycra things just tuck in rolls and cracks...not attractive...not comfortable. Layers...that's how I roll people. I was reading old posts yesterday for a mommyblogger talk I gave yesterday and I was reminded that I used to workout...often...and loved it. What happened? All the posts were the same,"went to the Y, I feel awesome with tons of energy..." Energy? What's that? I want some.

It was actually good

by teresa

I feel bad for all the negative vibe I was sending out about having to go to Ben's recorder concert.
I enjoyed myself.
There were fourteen songs....that's right....F O U R T E E N.
Luckily they were all played to cute, uptempo accompany music which livened things up a bit.
Ben and Kristian looked adorable in their black and white outfits and Chris remarked that Ben was displaying perfect concert posture. Of course he was, you know how serious he takes things like this. He hardly blushed at all when he finished his speaking part and Katy, Kai, Missy, Keith, Hailey, Mom, Coach Jerry, Miss Sonja and I hooted and whistled as he walked back to his seat. You gotta love embarrassing your kids...besides a couple "I Love You Mommy's" here and there, it's the one thing that gives me the most joy.

what is that noise?

by teresa

Recorder concert tonight at Ben's school.
And so it begins.
The bottom of the barrel climb we go from recorder (in 4th grade) to violin (in 5th) and ultimately drums. Why drums? Ben gives off this arrogant drum player kinda vibe...don't 'ya think? Lauren stayed with violin through high school and Nick changed twice, from cello to trumpet. The concerts go from the ear splitting, nausea induced tooting of twinkle twinkle little star to glorious, pitch perfect arrangements of Divertimento in C you would gladly pay to hear performed.
You can pick out the young parents in the crowd. This is their first child...they have a tripod and camcorder set up to record this exciting evening. hahahaha By kid three you are drawing straws to see who gets to stay home (and feign a headache).

and he will be dearly missed...

by teresa

My father's best friend in the world, was a man named Chuck Ford.
They would laugh and tease each other hour after hour of every day.
We called them "the grumpy old men".
When my father passed away at the end of 2007 Chuck wrote,"He was my Best Friend, the Brother I never had. I will miss him more than people will ever know."
Well, yesterday those two buddies finally got to hoot it up together again.
Chuck passed away in the morning and while we are all so sad here on Earth, I know my Daddy is showing him around, bragging about who he knows and taking him straight to meet "The Big Guy".
Please pray for his wife Gerri, their children and grandchildren in these hard days to follow.

and back from the woods they came

The boys are back from camping.
Happy, exhausted and tick free.
Praise the Lord.
I would post Nick's pictures too...but alas... he deleted them all while trying to upload.
That is so Nick.

double header soccer

by teresa
Ben had two soccer games on Saturday.
The first began at 8:00am (and not close to our house).
Good heavens.
The morning game was boring (we won 15 to zero), but the afternoon game was awesome. We tied 4 to 4 (coming back from a 1 to 3 deficit at halftime). Nail bitters are always the better games.

park fun

by teresa
Went to Mt. Trashmore last week with the kids.
We took their bikes and lunch and ended up there for three hours.
Which meant three hours of them not tearing up my house.

the best day ever

Do you hear that?
*crickets chirping*

My kids are gone for three days.
What will I do with out fights, spills, poop streaked underwear, spongebob and being on 24/7 waitress duty?

spring break update

by teresa

Day two of spring break down.
No major blowups. Nothing broken.
Only one major spill, but that was done by the husband (wii accident).
I feel that's a pretty successful forty eight hours, considering my sons can hardly stand to be breathing the same air without a monumental battle ensuing.
The rest of the week will be a breeze, seeing as I have arranged for the youngest male offspring to be across the state from the other for the next 120 hours.
I am good.

Mr. Bluebird's on my shoulder...

by teresa
I had great intentions of taking family photos yesterday morning. We were all in our best dress, so it was a perfect morning for updated portraits. It didn't happen. Ben was the one and only who would pose before church, and once home the ties, jackets and sweaters of the others were peeled off and tossed aside. Oh well, maybe next year.
Ben's turned out pretty good. Look at the bird that hopped in the shot over Ben's shoulder.

why do you cry? He has risen!

by teresa

A wonderful Easter.
Glory to God!
To see all my children in church, praising Him. Worshipping our risen Savior....it's almost too much for a mother to take.
Let's just say I cried the "ugly cry" for most of the service.

I grew up in church (literally from diapers). I asked Jesus in my heart at such a young age. I have had times in my life since where I took a step away. Tried a few things on my own, only to realize I am not at my best without Him. He is the first one I talk to in the morning and the last before I go to bed. I have heard the Easter story for almost 40 years. I have read it, heard songs sung about it and watched plays acting out the scenes. Every time it gets me...right here (clutching my heart). My mother likes to tell the story of finding me sobbing in front of the tv watching one of those movies on Easter morning. I was three. "They are killing him....why," I was crying? Now I know why. I tell my children. I hold them while they shed tears over the selfless act. The pain, the suffering, the sacrifice...for ME...for THEM...for YOU. Wow. Thank you Jesus.

and now...for the rest of the story

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.
In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro' all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
To Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him,
The help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
So good and kind.

He Lives!

By Chris

I love hymns. Nobody else does, apparently. They're fading away. That's cool though. I thought it would be appropriate to do the three stanzas of one of my favorites over the next three days . . .

I serve a risen Saviour; He's in the world today.
I know that He is living, whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.

You're really old school if you can sing the rest :))

it's all in my head

by teresa

Today is the last day of school before spring break. YES!
I need a couple of days to sleep in and get re energized.
Ben will be going camping with a soccer buddy and his family, so Nick will have some alone time with us. I hope we have good enough weather to get us out to the beach a few times. Although, it will be littered with shoobies*...so we may need to go out a little farther to avoid the crowds.

Easter egg production is over. Cleaned up, packed up and put away for another year. We did better than expected and we even have some extras to sell at the Easter Eggstravaganza tomorrow. Should be a fun day. No soccer (thank goodness) just enjoying the little ones running around finding eggs, playing games and watching a play. Nick is face painting and I will help man the egg table. We all have bets at how Kaden will do during the egg hunt. I say it is going to be a knock down, drag out fight. I will make sure to take my camera.

Dentist appointments for the boys today. Not fun. I get to be chastised about my kids neglectful flossing and plaque deposits. No cavities last time...I hope we have the same outcome this time. They get so nervous for fillings.

I missed my dad this week. Of course I miss him all the time, but I felt it again this week. There were several instances where he was thrown into my mind...and I wished he were here. I bought a new car this week. The first without my fathers approval. He was a top notch, know everything about a car kinda guy. I would always bring home prospective automobiles for his once over before signing on the dotted line. Also, my dishwasher was stopped up. I undid the tuby thingy and cleared it out to no avail. He would have known exactly what to. He fixed everything around my house. My sink, toilet, door, mailbox, fence, etc. I wish I could have given him a call. Chris did end up fixing it. I won't go into the details of how, how long it took, the mess it made or the two screws that were leftover after finishing. It works...and that's all the matters. Good job Chris.

The boys got their report cards this week. Honor roll all the way baby. They have requested cash from any and all relatives as a show of congratulations.

We went to bed so early last night. Chris and Ben at 7:00pm, me at 8:00pm and Nick at 8:45pm. These allergies are really wearing us down.

Today I will finish cleaning the house, go to Khols and find a shirt for Nick and stop by church to put aside some eggs for a lady who called me last night. Yes, I am getting calls in the night about eggs. Will it ever truly be over?

*shoobie
1. n. Regional nickname denoting a tourist to the southern New Jersey shore. This term originated in the 1920's when tourists, visiting the beaches were easily identified by the shoe boxes the brought to carry their lunches. 2. n. Any person who looks out of place while at the beach. Usually identified by the wearing of black party socks with shorts and flip flops and/or a severe sunburn.

(funny side note. when I spell checked this post the computer tried to substitute boobies...for shoobies. hee hee)

“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”

by teresa

It's almost over.
No more eggs to be made, just finishing up decorating and then bagging them for customers.
I am so glad.
It has been a joy to be a part of (especially the lunchtime socializing) but my house, my kids, my husband, have all been lacking in my attention. They're all a mess and needing some tlc.
Tomorrow I am cleaning this house from top...to bottom, grocery shopping and buying some Easter attire for the children. Or...taking a nap. We'll see how the day unfolds.

Last night the whole clan came over for Lauren's birthday party. We wii'd, lavished money and gifts on the bday girl and consumed a large icecream cake in it's entirety. Now that's a party!

family time

by teresa

I feel happy today.

Not that I am not happy most of the time....I just felt God's touch on this day. Maybe it was the sun shining bright or the cool spring breeze that kept us comfortable during all our outdoor activities. Everyone was drama free and I can't think of a single hour that passed where someone didn't laugh until they cried.

Ben and Kristian played soccer and Kai had his first baseball game of the season. Nick split the day between one nanny and the other and then topped off the evening by grilling us up dinner. He opened up dad's garage and sat in dad's rocking chair in between burger flips. We raised the mammoth patio umbrella for the first time in months and dined outside, surounded by both sets of grandparents, all three of our kids and one of Ben's soccer buddies (we love Keagan). We finished the night off with wii fit, tennis and bowling. The kids played each other, we played the grandparents, I played Chris. I lost everything....everytime. I will have to sneak in some practice rounds after they leave for school and work. I do not like to lose.

the low down on the family

by teresa

I fell asleep on the couch last night waiting for Nick to come home from church. The youth group "hangs" after service and we encourage Nick anytime he has an interest in cavorting with people his own age. He usually prefers the fifty and older crowd. He came in and said goodnight around 11 or so. I was too tired to get up and move to the bed. Big mistake. My neck and back are killing me this morning.

Nick preached in youth service last night. He has been preparing for a couple of weeks and was very excited (and nervous) yesterday. He banned Chris and I from coming in...but we heard it was great. Maybe I can get him to write about it on the blog.

Lauren's 20th b-day is Tuesday. I think I'll get her a phone. Hers is slowly dying and we were about to extend her plan and get one of the free phones offered. I will talk to Chris and see if we can let her pick out a cool one for her birthday gift. I would love that....no shopping! We can all go out to dinner too...if she happens to come home before 1:00am that night.

The whole family is excited about the final four games this weekend. As far as the brackets go...Ben has us all beat by a mile. After soccer, we will grill some meat and enjoy family time watching the games.

I want a Wii Fit. Anybody have one? Is it as awesome as it looks?

Ben is going camping with some family/soccer friends during spring break. He is super duper excited...and we are happy to get some quality alone time with the Nickster.

Remember the candy jar? The one Ben won at school for guessing the correct number of pieces? Well, Kaden loved coming over to get a lolly everyday. She would barge in the backdoor (totally ignore us sitting there) and head to the kitchen counter. Drag over a stool and grab a lolly...or three, and then head home in a fit of sugar giggles. When the jar ran low I told Chris we HAD to fill it again. Kaden would be so sad to find it empty...and I can't have sad kids around here. And so it is....that the jar has been refilled three times now. Kaden bounded in last night and stole for the kitchen. We heard the stool draaag across the floor and then her squeal to find the new stash. Does life get any better than that? nope.

We have been Wii'd

by teresa

Ben finally pulled the trigger.
He had saved up his Christmas and birthday money to buy a Wii for a couple of years now.
We would take him to buy it....and he would back down every time, not being able to part with his money.
Well, Lauren came home a couple of days ago with news that Bryce (IRHS/ODU buddy) was looking to sell his system, controllers and games. Ben jumped at the chance and he (we) are now the proud owners of a Wii.
They brought it over late last night after Ben went to bed and Lauren and I set it up (created our little Mii family characters) till 1:00am.
It was like Christmas this morning, with Ben bounding down the stairs to see his new toy.
I wonder how long he will be into it before the excitement wears off.
Two weeks....maybe three?

I am excited too. I love to play games with the kids. Also, I like having a new thing to use as collateral to get them to do what I tell them.
