there's no business...like TOE business....

by teresa
Katy's doctors appointment went good. We were there for an hour and a half...good grief! So we passed the time by looking in all the drawers...cracking jokes...taking pictures (of course) and reading aloud from the Book of Home Remedies that was in the room with us. I don't know why...but this cracked me up. It was in there next to the sterilizer...doctors utencils...tongue depressers (which I swiped)... and other such doctor stuff. As if he referred to it while examining each patient. Anyway...it took 6 shots to finally numb her toe enough for him to do the cutting. It looked pretty gross....and cool. I of course supervised the procedure. And by supervise, I mean let Katy grab (CRUSH) my hand and squeeze until the shots were over. Here are some pictures.

Here is her toe...before the procedure. Don't you love the spongebob bandaid?

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right before they came in with the needles....notice the smile? It wasn't there long!!

My camera batteries died before the doctor could do his snip snip. I know...I can hear you disappointment. Sorry!

This is hilarious!!

by teresa
Please run over to the yellow house and read about her shopping trip to Old Navy yesterday. This woman is my hero!! It also sounds JUST like something my mother would do. And I love that! My favorite part is her oldest son's embarassment regarding her behavior.

Nick...burgers...elfs...prayer...infected toes

Yesterday was so full of running around that I hardly had to to stop and say hello to y'all. I think Nick enjoyed his birthday. Although...I know it is killing him to wait until Saturday for his big presents. My mom did breakdown and give him his card from her (with $50 in it). My grandaddy did too. Don't feel sorry for him though...we took him and Ben out to breakfast (while eating Ben said...thanks for having your birthday Nick). At lunch I went to his school and surprised him with cupcakes (for the entire class). He had the biggest smile on his face when his class rounded the corner and he saw me sitting there. Of course when I went in the office to sign in I was greeted by "his ladies". They were all....Nick looks so hamdsome today...we didn't realize it was his birthday till this morning when he came down to the office for his birthday pencil....he is so special..etc. I'm loving those women!! After lunch I did some running around (last minute stuff for his birthday gifts...I can't wait to tell you what he's getting). Last night Ben had karate class before church. So I took him and Lauren took Nick out to dinner at Red Robin...and then they headed to church to meet us. During class Chris mom brought cupcakes for his birthday (good grief...could he possibly eat one more thing!!) He came to the car with red teeth....how much food coloring do they put in the icing of those things? He came in...showered. He showered quickly...a little too quickly if you ask me. But I wasn't going to be picky since American Idol was coming on in about 10 minutes! If I couldn't smell him from downstairs....he was clean enough! American Idol was great...as usual. I knew it was either going to be Elliot or Paris. So there were no surprises there. I love it when they have to sing right before they find out if they are cut. Such pressure. But the worst is when they make them sing after they are cut....I don't know how they hold it together so well. I guess from here on out losers will just be decided by what song they choose. Because they are all great singers! So they better be careful what they choose. I say Elliot is next...what do you think? I know...I know...he is a GREAT singer....but I just don't get into his performances. Ben walked by the tv on tuesday night when Elliot was singing and said....he looks like and ELF! Nuff said!
Today I have my MIT meeting (it is also the National Day of Prayer).....so hit those knees people and thank God for all of his blessings. Oh you don't think you are blessed do ya? Well...were you able to feed your kids last night? Pay your rent/ mortgage this month...tell someone you love them (or visa versa)...hear the birds chirping...see the rain yesterday...smile at your baby's face (they are your babies no matter how old they are)...then YOU HAVE LOTS TO BE THANKFUL FOR!
While you are on those knees...pray for my sister Katy. I am meeting her at the doctors this morning. She is having an infected ingrown toenail removed. (I will take my camera mwah haa haa) Now... I've never had an ingrown toenail...but I hear it is a KILLER PAIN!! Her major fears are the needles they stick in her foot before they do the procedure. She is very scared....so send your love her way (around 10:00am:)
I actually woke up refreshed this morning. Not groggy...wanting more sleep. That's a nice change. It's also very sunny here in va. So I took a shower...dressed..and went through the house opening all the curtains and blinds Notice I opened them after I showered and dressed...I'm no floosy (is that how you spell it?) Hold on...I'll look it up...nope...here's how you spell it. Anyway...there are lots of construction workers a few doors down..and frankly...I don't want to distract them:0) As my gal pal Beyonce says...I don't think there ready for this jelly! Anyway...getting back to why I open the blinds...there is nothing like lots of sunshine filling the house. I know this will create more dust...but I don't care. It brightens the house...it brighten's my day! Tomorrow's cleaning day anyway.
I'll try to check in with you guys later...bah bye.

Yikes...continued...

Well...to update all my peeps about the happnins round the crib last night. About 10:00pm Chris and I were watching tv...when all of a sudden...we heard 5 gun shots. At least it wasn't during American Idol (I would have had to go outside and bust a cap in someone:) for interrupting my AI) It was sooo loud and soooo close we jumped to our feet immediately! Chris told me to lock the back door and ran to the front to check the locks. I cut the lights off so we could peek out the front window and see what was going on. Now you should know...this kind of thing does NOT go on in our neighborhood. We have a quiet neighborhood (especially our street). Filled with hard working men and stay at home moms and grandparents. Just like our situation (mom and dad next door)...there are MANY parents...grandparents...and in-law families that make up our neighborhood. So the most noise we get around her are fireworks on New Years Eve. Needless to say...we were taken aback by this. Once we peeked outside we could see ALL our neighbors doing the same. Some even coming out on their porches (are they NUTS?) Gun shots=stay in the house and call the po po! Chris did call the police and they said they had already recieved some calls and had some cars on the way. Once the police were there we came outside. EVERYBODY came outside. People saying...it sounded like it was in our backyard...or it sounded like it was in our driveway. Well..to us...it sounded like it came from IN our house (it was LOUD). The police got out...questioned people (we were all in agreement that is was 5 shots)..and got flashlights out and started looking for shell casings. And guess where they found some????? anyone...anyone?? Bueller? Bueller? INFRONT OF OUR HOUSE AND IN MY FLOWER BED!!!!! Yikes! At least it was just shell casings and not a BODY! They were walking all in my flowers. I was like...hey! Get out of my flowers...I got major blisters planting those beauties! Just kidding! But I was thinking that! Of course the kids woke up from the shots and totally FREAKED THE HECK OUT!! Nick was so curious he came running outside in his underwear and tee shirt. Good grief! I had to shuffle him back upstairs and in bed. And Ben was SO not laying down by himself after that. He said...I wonder if school will be out tomorrow? And...I'm not going out to the bus stop (infront of our house) in the morning. We explained to him that this was not meant for us..or anyone we knew. I'm sure we will be answering his questions for days. All I know is...I am really glad Chris was not out of town. We would have all been freaking out! If we get anymore informationabout this...I'll make sure to blog it.

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY NICK!!

by teresa
I can't believe my little Nicky is 11 years old today. Or should I say my Hannah Mary? Funny story...whenI was pregnant with Nicholas I had three ultrasounds. All of which said I was having another girl. We both wanted a boy (since we already had Lauren) but once you know the sex...you get excited...picking out a name...buying cute pink thingys. Before we knew what the sex was...we had made up our minds on two names. If it was a boy...it would be Nicholas...if it was a girl...it would be Hannah Mary. So once we had a first..then second...then third ultrasound we knew we had our Hannah Mary coming! I even cross stitched the prettiest bib with her name on it. You start calling the baby Hannah Mary..even in the womb. You call the freshly decorated nursery...Hannah's room. Then came the day for induction. I have NEVER just gone into labor. I was induced with all three (c-sections with all three too) (stupid wrapped umbilical chords!) After a lengthy labor...and no dilation...they took me in for surgery. If you've had a c-section yo know, once they decide to do it...it's wham..bam..thank you mam! Boom...10 minutes later your holding your baby. Well...they open me up (Chris is holding my hands cause I got that shakey thing happening). They lift the baby out and say something to the effect of.....here's your big boy! HUH? We laughed...thinking the doctors were teasing. The anesthesiologist looks at us funny and says....you did know it was a boy...right? Chris and I look at each other....smile (bigger and better then I have ever smiled in my whole entire life) and said....Nick! I swear...it was the absolute coolest moment EVER!! It's like running downstairs on Christmas morning...unwrapping your gift (that huge, pink Barbie Dreamhouse w/ outdoor jacuzzi and pool) and screaming...IT'S JUST WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED!!!!! Everyone in the delivery room were thrilled for us. We explained that we had 3 ultrasounds and they all said girl. The anesthesiologist was so excited to have witnessed this surprise and our delight....that he ran out to the waiting room and TOLD OUR FAMILIES!! Can you believe that? He told everyone (my mom...Chris' mom...it was the middle of the night...so everyone else had gone home) before Chris could get out there! Knucklehead! They didn't believe him at first...then they were thrilled! Mom called dad at home and told him. This man wanted a boy in the family soooooo bad. He thought she was just teasing him. To this day he will tell you that he didn't believe her until he came to the hospital and "checked" for himself!
Mom and Katy had a good time taking all the girl clothes back and getting some boy clothes. They did all this before I even got home from the hospital...it was nice. I came home and everything was BOY....except the Hannah Mary bib I had made. I hung it on his wall until he was a toddlar. I still have it somewhere...and anytime I see it I laugh...and remember the SHOCK AND EXCITEMENT of the day he was born. For the first few weeks of his life we called him Hannah sometimes...just out of habit. Too funny!
Now 11 years later I sit here. Mom to one girl and two boys. Nick is already as tall as me (that's not saying much)...his shoe size is one under his dads....he's smart....kind (to everyone except his brother :)...handsome...and well....he's.....Nick. My Nicky! Or as others refer to him....the Nickmeister...Nickelodeon....Tricky Nicky....dork (well that's just Lauren's little pet name for him:)....the Nickster....my big brown eyed boy! We all love you Nick...and wish you a very happy birthday!!

bang! bang! bang! bang! bang!....yikes....

by teresa

Just another boring Tuesday night at the Green's house. Oh yeah...unless you count the 5 gun shots that just rang out...followed by the police searching my begonia's for shell casings! But other than that.....just ho hum!

getting ready for Nick's birthday

by teresa
I surprised Chris at work today. I needed to go buy something for Nick's birthday (which is tomorrow) and I needed his technical expertise. I just showed up unannounced. He was hold up in someones office in an informal meeting. I slipped a note under the door. It said...Chris (with a heart dotting the I)...R U in there? -T He read it and popped his head out. All smiley! We hopped over to Target to pick up the gift and a card and then I took him back to work. We got some neat things for Nick's birthday that he is going to LOVE! I can't mention them seeing as he peruses this site every now and then. And I don't want to spoil the surprise. We are going to have his Family party on Saturday afternoon...and his friend party next weekend at LaserQuest. I am also going to take cupcakes and lunch to his school tomorrow. We would usually have his family party ON his actual birthday...but it is a church night. And both of his nanny's teach classes on Wed. night. But I don't think he will mind waiting a few extra days. Here's a couple of pictures of Chris' office. I like all the pictures of the kids he has on his shelf.

a blah day!

by teresa
I feel so unmotivated today. I slept in (Ben was mad because I had to take him instead of ride the bus). I was just too tired when the alarm went off. I almost didn't make their beds...almost! That is a big deal for me...because I can't function unless all the beds are made. I haven't even showered yet and I'm supposed to be at Ben's school at 10:00. I feel like blowing that off. I feel too blah to choose an outfit to wear. I don't even have any good blog ideas for today. Maybe I'll just read all ya'lls blogs today instead of trying to be creative. I did make breakfast (scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage). But once it was cooked, I just took it off the stove and left the kitchen. I never ate any of it. I'll just save it for the boys after school. Well...since I'm boring you to tears I'll go do ...whatever...and maybe I'll write again later. Do you evr have days like this?

Student of the Month

by teresa
Yesterday Ben came home with a student of the month award. He was so proud of himself. He had a big blue SOM ribbon..a certificate...and a bumper sticker (for Chris' car:) I'll try to get a picture of him with all his awards later today. Here are some cute pictures of him pulling the heads off allthe dandelions in the yard and throwing them in the air...over and over and over! And yes....he is in his socks George!

Einstein with a dunce hat on??

by teresa
I don't know why...but this video cracks me up. It reminds me of my father and some of the descriptions he gives when showing us the "antiques" he's collected from yard sales and ebay.

My Calendar

by teresa
My favorite lady asked us to post a picture of our calendars on the blog. I didn't get around to it this weekend...so here it is. Her's looks much busier than ours. She's a baseball mom...nuff said! I like mine because it is magnatized...so it goes right on the fridge. And each week is a separate strip...so when the week is over you just erase and move it to the bottom. Everyone has their own color. Too cool! I can't take the credit for it's awesomeness though...it was a gift from my multi-talented...mega-crafty...super-aunt Beth!

I hate the icecream man....ok...that's not nice! I strongly dislike the icecream man!

by teresa
Do you have an icecream man? We have two in our neighborhood. The dueling icecream men. One is "The Blue Bunny" truck...and the other is some guy in an old delivery truck that has been "pimped" with freezers inside and scotch taped pictures of icecream on the outside. This man also has no teeth! Yikes! They have been bombarding our hood for over a month already. And I am about to loose it! No matter what my kids are doing (homework, eating dinner, etc.)....they snap to attention when they hear the Ragtime theme song playing in the distance. And then the begging begins. Pleeeeeaase! Pleeeaassee! Gimme..gimme..gimme!!! Now it doesn't matter if we have popsicles or whatever in the freezer. They will not be satisfied until I pay $1.50 for a powerpuff girl icecream on a stick (or other such frozen delight). And this is just the Blue Bunny truck. Then about an hour later the trailer park icecream man comes. He doesn't have a song...just a bell (brrrrring brrrring!) When you ask him for something...he never has it. Ben looks at the pictures and it takes him FOREVER to make up his mind. Then he chooses....I'd like that Spongebob icrecream with the candy eyeballs please. Umm, we don't have that! ?? Ok...then he wants the jumbo neopolitan icecream sandwich please. Um, we don't have that! DUDE! Then take down the pictures!!
I always swear I am going to pay these guys off at the beginning of the summer. You know...here's a $50....stay away from Hazel Ave....or the bunny get's it!
You would think they would get wise and start offering Starbuck's in addition to their other menu. Couldn't you imagine that? Your doing the dishes and you hear that Ragtime theme song in the distance. You root around in your purse for some ones....throw on your flip flops...and hit the porch! Pacing...waiting...wanting....until you see that truck round the corner. Then you knock your children (and any other rugrat who dares get in your path) to the side to be first in line for your Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino Blended Crème....Venti!
A girl can dream...can't she?

peace, love and flower power

by teresa
My neighbors are so funny. Miss Pat loves on the corner and Miss Gerri lives across the street. They are both...well...older than my parents. And both school bus drivers (Miss Gerri retired). God bless them for that! I can't imagine having enough patience for that job! Anyway, this weekend the bus drivers all got together for a big banquet. And the theme was ...the 60's. So Miss Pat and Miss Gerri came over so I could take a picture of them in their outfits. It is too cute!!

I am the PuppetMaster!

by teresa
Our weekend was FULL! The boys had karate and soccer. And on Saturday Nick went over my grandaddy's house and helped him till up his front yard. Mom says grandaddy got it in his head about 2 weeks ago that he wanted new grass in his front yard. So he started digging it up BY HAND with a little gardening trowel. Remember this man is 88 years old! Once mom saw he had done this (and knew he was serious about his new yard) she enlisted the help of her older brother John. So Saturday John and Nick tilled and raked the yard while mom went in dad's truck to get top soil. Nick was BEAT when he got home! I like my children returned to me like that...tired...and ready for bed! :)
Saturday night George (FIL) wanted us all to come over and have a cookout. Which was great (chicken and burgers on the grill can't be beat). The only snafu was the the temperature dropped to about 40 degrees. Brrrrrrr! After we ate George cut the legs of the grill to about 4 inches. Then took the grill top off and let the kids collect sticks and throw them in the fire. That kept us warm the rest of the time. We all pulled our chairs close and stared into the fire for over and hour. It's so calming...to stare into a fire! That is until Ben kicked the soccer ball right into the middle of it. Knucklehead!
Yesterday at church it was my week to help out in the puppet and snack class. The other helper didn't show up ...so I had to do 2 puppets at the same time. I am sooo the puppetmaster! The kids in the class are so cute(ages 3-5). After the morning service we had a potluck dinner. Church potluck's are great. Lots of homemade grub....chicken n dumpings, rice and beans, fried cornbread, fried chicken, ham and such. Chris, of course, stays FAR away from such events. He has this thing about eating anything (except by me, my mom, his mom) not prepared in a restaurant. He always says...you don't know how clean peoples kitchens are or if they washed their hands while cooking the food. Good grief!
Last night once the kids were bathed and fed we all curled up on the couch and watched Home Makeover. The kids love this show. They think Ty Pennington is hilarious. They were sitting there watching the show...making a list of people who they thought deserved a home makeover. That was sweet. They watched the first hour downstairs and then we put them to bed to watch the second hour. But they were asleep in about 5 minutes. Then Chris and I were able to watch DHW in peace. I love that show!! Chris (and Katy) call me Bree Vandekamp. :)
Here's some pictures of the weekend..

The boys enjoying their burgers!

Kristian with a plate full of food (which she only took one bite of!)

Nick and Ben adding sticks to the fire

The Jr. kids class. This was the one second that they weren't bouncing off the walls (literally). After this picture...the music was cut on...and it was like human popcorn!

Me teaching the kids some sign language (see the little boy doing and A) during our snack class.

Strikers vs. Fireballs

by teresa
The kids came out for the game this morning like they were still half asleep. Dragging their feet like they had lead in them! This is so aggravating! We had such a good practice on Thursday too. Our ringer had to miss the game today. He got his front teeth knocked out at daycare. Good grief! Another kid just didn't show up. It's sad how some parents don't take their kids activities seriously. I couldn't imagine just blowing off a game without letting the coach know. The score was 2 to 0. and if it wasn't for a great goalie in the third quarter...it would have been about 7 to 0. We couldn't seen to get the ball down to their goal. We were constantly trying to keep it out of our goal. Three quarters of the game was played right infront of our goal!
We have 2 more practices this week...and then our last game is Saturday. We play a team who's coach is such a cheater (I'll blog about this at a later time). So we HAVE GOT TO WIN!!!!

"train hard, fight easy. train easy, fight hard"

by teresa
Last night I took Nick to his belt testing (karate). He was 3 months over due for the test. He kept postponing it because he was having trouble memorizing the verses. One of his sensei's got on him so much last much last week and forced him to study. He also told him if he didn't show up to test...he was coming to his house and dragging him there. This particular sensei is a sweet 20yr who grew up at the dojo. He took classes from the time he was Ben's age and now he is one of the instructors. Nick thinks the world of the young man. So any words of encouragment from him are taken very seriously. The belt test took 3 hours. I thought I would pass out from the strong feet smell coming from all of the participants...and the fact that my feet don't touch the ground when I sit on the bench (this cuts off my circulation). Anyway...he did great and earned his purple belt. He was so excited on the way home that he was just rambling and rambling on about every aspect of the evening. He had me take a picture when we got home with his new belt on. Ben will be testing out of little dragons in about 2 months. He is a red belt now, and will be getting his (little dragon) black belt next month. After that he will be in the regular classes as an orange belt. I know that sounds confusing, but upon graduating from little dragons you are promoted to the orange belt level for adults. He is so thrilled about this!

Smile, what's the use of crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile....If you just smile

by teresa
Well folks...we had a great experience at the dentist this morning. Like I said yesterday...I was forced to find a new dentist (in a hurry). Luckily, the one practice I chose (which is next door to our pediatrician) had three cancellations for this morning. I say luckily...because I was informed at first that I couldn't get an appointment until SEPTEMBER!! Wow....is it like this where you are? We were all a little nervous at first (me nervous not knowing how the boys would do), but once we walked in I felt like the kids worries were eased. Eventhough the first thing out of Nick's mouth when we opened the door was....man! I hate that smell (the dentist office smell:) The place is big...and bright...and the staff are BEYOND friendly. Even a little silly (silly is good). Ben sat down and looked on the table beside him...lo and behold...a Junie B. Jones book (y'all know my Ben is way into Junie B.) It was one that he has read and loves (The Toothless Wonder). After that discovery...he was fine. Lauren was...is and will always be fine with wherever she goes. The kid is so laid back...so I didn't have to worry about how she would feel with a new dentist. She's just like...whatever? Nick walked in and some little kid (maybe 3yr old) latched onto him. which all you know is fine with Nick. He wanted Nick to play with him...read him a book...show him the fish tank and so forth. Nick was more than happy to oblige. Ben was called back first...then Lauren. It was just me and Nick left in the waiting room. He was pacing a hole in the carpet. Smiling...but pacing (can't you picture that worried look?) One of the receptionist noticed him and suggested that she would change the channel to something he would like. So she grabs the remote and puts it on discovery channel. It was some surgery show. After a minute she and I (at the same time) realized what surgery it was....a breast inlargement! I'm pretty sure Nick didn't realize...but the lady changed the channel to the disney channel in a hurry. Once he was called back I was able to get some reading done. They called me back after the cleanings so I could be in there when the dentist reads the xrays and evaluates. Each kid was in a separate room. Each room had a tv in it. One of the hygienists said the kids could put it on whatever they wanted to watch. Can you guess what Nick's tv was on.....that's right...The Food Network (Rachael Ray is his girlfriend:) Lauren had no cavities....Ben one little (in a baby tooth)...and Nick had one and also they have to pull a baby tooth that just isn't falling out (two permanent teeth are trying to come in on top of it). So...we will go back in May (22nd). I was very happy with the whole thing. but the real test will be when the boys get their cavities filled! Here's a couple of pictures of Ben after he got his teeth cleaned and was wating for the dentist.

Just say it...I'm a weirdo!

by teresa
I just have a few random questions for you guys. Things I've noticed about myself...and I'd like to know if maybe you guys do the same things. Or if I'm just a total nutcase. Here it goes.
I've noticed that when were out at a restaurant...and we are finished eating. I compulsively start cleaning up the table. Scraping leftover scraps from plate to plate. Stacking dishes...wiping up the table...collecting all the napkins and putting them on top of my plate pile. Why do I do this? They have people (who we tip) to do these things...but I can't help myself. I guess I feel that if I leave it the way my kids have it...they will issue a restraining order against my family from ever coming within 500 yrds of their establishment. Do you do this too?

Next...when I have a bad dream about someone...I wake up mad at them. Example: A couple of days ago I dreamed that I was hiding in the boys room (under the bed...who knows why) and Nick jumped on top of Ben and tried to smother him. He was hitting him in the head and holding a pillow over his face. I was trying to scream his name and reach for him...but something was holding me and keeping me silent. It was torture! It was so real! I awoke with a start...when I looked at the clock it was 2 minutes before my alarm goes off. I just sat there...sick to my stomach. And feeling awful feelings toward my Nicky. I knew he would never do such a thing...it was only a twisted dream...but I was still mad at him. I couldn't stop myself... Have you ever done this? Had a dream feel so real to you that you reacted as if it were real when you woke?

How do you sleep? I go to sleep on my back. With my hands tucked under my butt. Chris says it freaks him out because I look like I'm lying in a coffin. Most of the time I wake up on my side though (hands tucked under my body). I have this thing about my hands having to be under me. Also..I will not share a blanket. I have to be tucked in (all around...except for one foot sticking out (it has to breath:) . So snuggling under the same blanket...is OUT! If we were under the same blanket...then I couldn't get my tuck on. This bothered Chris when we were first married...but like all the little things about me that aggravated him in our first year of marraige...he learned to GET OVER IT! IT JUST AIN'T WORTH IT! So...how do you sleep? do you share a blanket with hubby?

I had a few more questions...but they slipped my mind. When I remember them I will ask.

Adventures of Flab Man and Slobbin

By Chris

Tonight's dinner was rather unusual as about 20 of us went to a reportedly popular Atlanta destination where you have dinner and an interactive mystery - comedy play. The production tonight was called: Adventures of Flab Man and Slobbin. It was bizaare. The main characters were fat versions of Batman and Robin intent on solving a murder in Gotham, Georgia. You eat between the acts. There are only two actors, but the crowd plays several roles too.

As we arrived, the lady at the door says, "are you Chris?" I was shown to a very specific seat, and given a yellow sheet of paper that says: "Welcome to Adventures of Flab Man and Slobbin. Your are Grit McDirt, owner of a dirt farm in Gotham City, GA. " Then, there were some stage directions that gave me a cue line from the actors, then stated: STAND AND SAY EXCITEDLY: "Yahooo!!!! Well, dust off my boots!!!! this seems too good to be true!" Serveral more lines followed, interacting with the actors. In my last set of lines, I actually had to say "You bet your burlap bra strap!!" I tried to do it up, sothern accent and all, figuring that shying away from the task would bring more ridicule. Many of the 20 in the group report to me, and they let out a pretty good laugh when I jumped up with that first Yahoo!, it was so absurd and funny in a strange way.

So, the play goes on. Lots of people have parts. Some had to sing. All the while the main characters are trying to solve the murders. Then, before the last act, I'm handed another yellow sheet of paper that says: DON'T SHOW THIS TO ANYONE!!

Then it says: "SURPRISE! You are the killer! We need your help one more time. . . " Followed by more stage directions and cues, where I have to interact in a very silly dialogue for the whole restaurant again with Flabman and Slobin (at one point actually having to say "Her seed plus my dirt farm equals lots of Tater Tots!", ending with these instructions for my last line:

BEGIN TO CRY

"What have I done? What have I done?!!

SIT DOWN AND CRY LOUDLY INTO YOUR NAPKIN.

So, I did it.

shhh.....can you use your inside voices please?

by teresa
I think Nick has gone past the point of return. The power of safety patrol captain has gone to head....and shot past the moon! I asked him how his "morning patrol" went today. This was his response (said in his Sgt. Joe Friday voice)...

Nick: Well...I had one person out in station 16.

Mom: Station 16 huh? Who is that?

Nick: I don't know names. I only know them by their stations (I guess he wants to keep it all business)

Mom: Were people doing what they are supposed to?

Nick: No...I had to write up two girls for talking in the cafeteria this morning.

Mom: Aren't you allowed to talk in the cafeteria?

Nick: No! It is a level ZERO VOICE ZONE! When you are done with your breakfast...you are to put your things in the trash...and go straight to homeroom. No chatting!

Heaven help this kid! He isn't going to have a friend left after his stint is over!
