I am the PuppetMaster!

by teresa
Our weekend was FULL! The boys had karate and soccer. And on Saturday Nick went over my grandaddy's house and helped him till up his front yard. Mom says grandaddy got it in his head about 2 weeks ago that he wanted new grass in his front yard. So he started digging it up BY HAND with a little gardening trowel. Remember this man is 88 years old! Once mom saw he had done this (and knew he was serious about his new yard) she enlisted the help of her older brother John. So Saturday John and Nick tilled and raked the yard while mom went in dad's truck to get top soil. Nick was BEAT when he got home! I like my children returned to me like that...tired...and ready for bed! :)
Saturday night George (FIL) wanted us all to come over and have a cookout. Which was great (chicken and burgers on the grill can't be beat). The only snafu was the the temperature dropped to about 40 degrees. Brrrrrrr! After we ate George cut the legs of the grill to about 4 inches. Then took the grill top off and let the kids collect sticks and throw them in the fire. That kept us warm the rest of the time. We all pulled our chairs close and stared into the fire for over and hour. It's so calming...to stare into a fire! That is until Ben kicked the soccer ball right into the middle of it. Knucklehead!
Yesterday at church it was my week to help out in the puppet and snack class. The other helper didn't show up ...so I had to do 2 puppets at the same time. I am sooo the puppetmaster! The kids in the class are so cute(ages 3-5). After the morning service we had a potluck dinner. Church potluck's are great. Lots of homemade grub....chicken n dumpings, rice and beans, fried cornbread, fried chicken, ham and such. Chris, of course, stays FAR away from such events. He has this thing about eating anything (except by me, my mom, his mom) not prepared in a restaurant. He always says...you don't know how clean peoples kitchens are or if they washed their hands while cooking the food. Good grief!
Last night once the kids were bathed and fed we all curled up on the couch and watched Home Makeover. The kids love this show. They think Ty Pennington is hilarious. They were sitting there watching the show...making a list of people who they thought deserved a home makeover. That was sweet. They watched the first hour downstairs and then we put them to bed to watch the second hour. But they were asleep in about 5 minutes. Then Chris and I were able to watch DHW in peace. I love that show!! Chris (and Katy) call me Bree Vandekamp. :)
Here's some pictures of the weekend..

The boys enjoying their burgers!

Kristian with a plate full of food (which she only took one bite of!)

Nick and Ben adding sticks to the fire

The Jr. kids class. This was the one second that they weren't bouncing off the walls (literally). After this picture...the music was cut on...and it was like human popcorn!

Me teaching the kids some sign language (see the little boy doing and A) during our snack class.
