As Teresa mentioned, me and my boys from college made a trip to Williamsburg to see William and Mary loose to our ODU Monarchs. Mike and Mitch are twins, with whom I lived during our college years, when we became big time supporters of ODU basketball. Baketball season is our time to catch up and capture some aspects of our fading "glory days." The trip to Williamsburg is an annual ritual, much like our pilgramage to Richmond for the CAA Basketball Tournament. But, we are getting old. Now, we look at the students acting crazy (that used to be us) and admire there enthusiasm and creativity from the grown-up section. We're even members of the very-grown-up Big Blue Club now. ODU fans outnumbered the W&M fans in their gym tonight. A busload of students, like we used to be, showed up in force. We admired their enthusiastic support of ODU, recognizing the enthusiasm we brought over a decade ago:
The best chants of the night, which the energetic students led in unison:
"Not in Our House": A "smack" in their face, since we were actually in "their house," or their home court (in college basketball, loosing a game on your homecourt is the ultimate low).
"Who's Your Daddy": Which means: We own you, even in YOUR hometown.
It was fun. We won. And we even got to give some good-natured ribbing to the W&M fans in front of us, whose team has not managed a single victory in our shared conference, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
